We're going to focus on the Nemheng N5, which is a basic entry-level ultra budget smart watch, and in this article we'll go over its main features, my wife will test its heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen, and pedometer accuracy, and I'll go over its ip67 waterproof capabilities and show you everything you need to know about the N5.
The Nemheng N5 smartwatch has the following features
We found a manual leaflet, a USB magnetic charging cable, and the watch itself inside the packaging. The n5's rectangle body is lightweight and straightforward.
On the back of the watch, we can find ppg heart rate sensors and infrared sp02 sensors, as well as the body temperature sensor and magnetic charging pins for plugging in a charging cable. On the right side of the case, there is a single multi-function button.
The soft silicon strap on the Nemheng N5 smart watch is 20 millimeters wide. The n5 has a 1.69-inch color tft touchscreen with a resolution of 240x280 pixels and a nice-looking curved 2.5-d glass. The display has four brightness levels, with the maximum setting being easily visible in direct sunlight.
Furthermore, as you move your wrist up, the display illuminates automatically. The n5 is available in three colors: pink, white, and black for women, and black for men.
Is the N5 Smartwatch waterproof?
While we're on the subject of design, Nemheng claims their n5 has an IP67 waterproof certificate, so I'll put the watch in a glass of water to see what happens.
To summarize, ip67 means that the unit can be dropped into a body of water up to a meter deep for half an hour, and it also means that our watch is dust resistant. I'll submerge the N5 for at least three hours and see what happens.
After three hours of being submerged in water, the watch appears to be still alive, indicating that it is fully waterproof, so no worries about taking it to the swimming pool. Swimming is also one of the N5's sports modes.
The N5 Smartwatch measures swim strokes and estimates calories burned. The n5 has up to 24 sports modes to monitor your workout and exercise accordingly:
Outdoor running, cycling, swimming, rope skipping, badminton, table tennis, tennis, mountaineering, walking, basketball, soccer, baseball, cricket, volleyball, hockey, football, dance, yoga, spinning cycling, sit-ups, treadmill, gymnastics, boating, and jumping.
To clarify, the N5 lacks automatic exercise detection, so you must manually turn the exercise before beginning your workout.
Does the N5 Smartwatch have GPS?
The N5 lacks a GPS, but you can use your smartphone's GPS with the companion app. Simply begin your walking, running, or biking exercise from the app, and it will track and record your location throughout the activity using the GPS on your phone.
In a moment, I'll go over the companion app and its features. My wife tested the pedometer accuracy in her N5, using a manual tally counter to track exactly 1 000 steps for her 1000 steps - the n5 counted 100 steps, giving us 99.5 of step accuracy, which is pretty good considering this is an ultra-low-cost smartwatch.
A heart rate measurement is the next widget in the watch menu. Let's see how accurate the n5 is compared to the NHS-approved medical pulse oximeter we have here. 71... 70 bpm on N5 - and the pulse oximeter also reads 70 bpm, which is pretty good.
The following widget is a blood pressure monitor; my wife will compare the N5 readings to the Omron blood pressure monitor. Remember, the watch is not a medical device, so its readings should only be used for reference.
As you can see, the readings from both devices are similar but not identical. The N5 measured 110 systolic and 72 diastolic blood pressure, which was slightly higher than Omron's true readings. The next widget is the blood oxygen saturation level, also known as Spo2.
My wife double-checks the N5 against the pulse oximeter. Right, we got 98 percent on the N5 - and 99 percent of Sp02 on the pulse oximeter. Let's try again.
N5 watch reads 97%, but the pulse oximeter still reads 99 beats per minute. Let's run the experiment again. 99 on both devices isn't bad, but there was some variation between the first two tests.
The temperature measurements are the next widget. The watch measures 35.7 degrees Celsius, while an ear thermometer measures 36.5 degrees Celsius. Because the temperature measured in the ear is more reliable than the temperature measured on the wrist, there is likely a 0.8 degree difference between the two readings.
N5 struggled with my mrs sleep tracking; it was frequently able to record light sleep and deep sleep periods, but it failed to capture the actual time of fall asleep and wake-up time; this is something that many smart devices struggle with.
The N5 works with the "Smart Wristband 3" companion app, which you install on your phone and uses to set and control the N5's functionality.
Because the app is compatible with iOS and Android, you'll need to scan a QR code with your smartphone to access the Apple Store or Google Play. Once you've installed the app on your phone, make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Open the companion app, tap "add device," find smartwatch on the list, tap it, and then simply confirm all the requests that will appear on the phone screen, such as "pairing request" and "allow notifications."
In the app, you can view graphs of your activities, set goals, set alarms, and receive notifications. The app has a simple layout and everything is neatly organized.
Here are the N5 features that necessitate a constant Bluetooth connection with your phone: The weather, the music app control, which allows you to select and play music on your phone remotely, a stopwatch, alarms, a countdown timer, and a find phone feature are all available.
Swiping from the watch's main screen gives you access to real-time message notifications from your phone and social apps, as well as notifications about incoming calls. You cannot, however, reply to messages; you can only view them. You can't even pick up the phone or make a call from the watch; you can only drop it.
You can select and download a variety of available watch faces to your N5 via the app. There are approximately 70 watch faces to choose from. You can also design your own watch face by using any photo or image from your smartphone as the background.
Simply scale, crop, and sync it to the watch. To quickly change the watch face, press and hold the main screen for about three seconds before swiping between the dials.
The N5 has a small 260 milliamp hours lithium polymer battery that lasts about 10 to 15 days under normal conditions. If you disconnect the watch from your phone and run it in standalone mode, the battery can last up to three weeks.
A full battery charge takes approximately one and a half hours. The Nemheng N5 is available for purchase on Amazon worldwide, with prices ranging from £29 to £34 (GBP), $39 to $42 (USD), and 29â to 39â (EUR) in Italy, France, Germany, and other European countries.
As always, I did my research and checked the customer reviews on Amazon to see what existing N5 owners had to say about the watch - and here we have: "perfect," "easy to set up," "super," "not bad for the price," "brilliant smartwatch," "excellent watch, very pleased," and one negative review: - "doesn't work as expected, isn't very accurate" I agree that the sleep and blood pressure tracking could be improved, but the steps and heart rate are spot on.
There are numerous other reviews, the vast majority of which are 5 stars - and this speaks for itself. Don't pass up this opportunity if you believe the Nemheng N5 is the right one for you.
