Virtual realty; This is a Samsung gear virtual realty unboxing and initial setup article. We'll be looking at the Samsung gear VR innovator Edition, so take a look at the front and back of the box.

Now we have the Gear VR carrying case, which is a very durable case that is very hard to flex and will definitely keep your Gear VR safe in here. It has a carrying handle and a zipper to open it.

We'll go ahead and open it up now you've got your gear VR itself as well as a little section for a controller if you have one as well as a little Velcro pouch over here and your micro SD card and SD card adapter for your micro SD card and all of your demo material for the gear VR on your micro SD card.

So we put this back in here, and the last thing is a microfiber cloth to clean the lenses on the gear VR. Now that I've successfully removed the eight pounds of tape, let's look at how to put the head strap on. Simply remove the goggles and align this hook with a metal bar in this slot here. Once the hook is wrapped around the bar, simply tug and the strap will lock into place.

You won't likely hear a snap, but you will feel it press into place. Now, simply unhook this strap, thread it through this ring on the back, and velcro it back together.

Features of Samsung gear VR

Here's a look at the four buttons on the fully assembled headset. sensors and alterations The Gear virtual realty includes a touchpad, a mechanical back button, mechanical volume rockers, proximity sensors to detect whether or not you are wearing the headset, and a focus adjustment wheel.

How do I setup my Samsung VR headset?

1. The first step in getting your Note 4 to work with Gear VR is to remove the front cover and connect your phone to the headset.
2. If you have the volume turned up, you will hear a voice prompt saying this. If you don't have the volume turned up, you will see some text when you put on the headset telling you to take the note 4 out to begin the setup process.
3. The setup process will begin once you remove your phone from the headset. The first page simply informs you that you must be connected to either Wi-Fi or a mobile network in order to complete the setup process and that any data overages will be charged to you.
4. If you're connected to a mobile network, you'll be walked through a series of downloads and user agreements that essentially sum up to you agreeing that if you die while using the Gear VR, it's not Samsung's fault. That's a lot of downloading.

What's the warnings to use virtual reality experience?

• The first is that children under the age of 13 should not use the Gear VR because it can harm their visual development.
• The second point to make is that you should sit down when using the Gear VR, especially for the first time. I've had about a dozen people try it on and nearly all of them became disoriented for a few seconds.
• When they first put the headset on, the rest are obvious things like don't drive while wearing it, don't use it if you have epilepsy, take it off if you start feeling nauseated or get a headache, and so on.

I'd like to point out that you cannot put the Note 4 into the Gear VR while wearing a case, and that the only phone that works with the Gear VR is the Note 4, not the Note Edge. Some other phones will fit but nothing will happen.

When you connect your phone to the Gear VR, you will not even receive a notification on your phone or form that something is attempting to connect. You also cannot wear the headset while wearing glasses, but the focus adjustment covers a fairly wide range of vision.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some screen protectors can distort images when using the Gear VR, particularly if the screen protector has scrapes or bubbles on it.

How do I install Gear VR app?

Back to the setup process, these downloads take a while, so I'll skip ahead of it. Once the download is complete, you'll be prompted to create an oculus account; there's also the option to login if you already have an oculus account.

So I have to create a new one when creating a new account you will have to agree to even more Terms of Service that rival the length of the Bible once you agree to all of that you will need to enter your email then an oculus ID that will be viewable to the public as well as your real name which can only be viewed by oculus after that you will need to create a password for your account.

After that, select your country and enter your birthday. Oculus will send you an email, which may take a few minutes, so be patient. When you receive the email, click the link provided. 

When you tap the link, you'll be given the option to open it with the oculus app. Make sure you choose the oculus app. I have to continue the setup process the link will take you to a page within the oculus app to download three awesome oculus apps.

How do I install Gear VR app?

1. The first app is called oculus cinema.

Which allows you to literally sit in a giant triple screen movie theater and watch a movie on the moon or even watch a movie in a simple home theater. 

This may sound a little gimmicky to some people, but I can't begin to describe how incredible the experiences are. This isn't just a spruced-up version of Google cardboard.

2. Oculus 360 Photos is the second app.

This app allows you to enter some 360-degree photo spheres provided by Oculus. If you're not sure what a photosphere is, go to Google Maps and click on Street View; those are photo spheres.

3. Oculus 360 Videos is the final app.

This is simply a photosphere captured at 30 frames per second, allowing you to watch things like an Icelandic helicopter tour where you can look around in any direction while the helicopter is flying through Iceland.

Simply tap install, and all three apps will download simultaneously. I'll take a moment to provide you with some additional information about the Gear VR. If you receive a call while using the Gear VR, a notification will float in front of you informing you of who is calling.

If you look at the notification, you have the option to reject the phone call; if you want to answer the phone call, you must remove the Note 4 from the Gear VR; all of your other notifications will also come through as floating pop-ups with relevant information; however, you will not be able to interact with those notifications; they will simply appear for a few seconds before disappearing.

If you haven't already done so, you'll be prompted to insert the microSD card that came with your oculus if you haven't already done so. If you don't currently have any microSD card installed, simply remove the back cover from your note 4 and insert the microSD card from oculus.

If you have a microSD card installed, you must first go to settings general storage. Once the microSD card has been unmounted, you can remove the back cover of your Note 4 and remove the microSD card that is currently installed.

To remove the microSD card, simply place your finger on it and press up towards the top of the phone. Now, simply insert the microSD card that came with the gear virtual realty, and the new microSD card will mount to your phone automatically.

so you just have to put the back cover on and go back to the oculus app once you're back in the app just tap continue the app will finish setting up your phone then tell you to insert your phone into the gear VR.

Before you do that make sure you wipe the screen down thoroughly to make sure there aren't any smudges. When you put the gear VR on for the first time you'll be given a tutorial to show you how to navigate through menus. 

The controls sum up as this tap the touchpad to select something that you're looking at swipe up/down forward or backwards on the touch pad to navigate. Tap the back button to go back and hold the backbutton to open up the settings. 

So you can look around at the real world with the headset on reorient the screen which comes in handy if you accidentally start an app while looking in an awkward direction and want to recenter the app menus and interface to be directly in front of  you can also enable or disable the Do Not Disturb mode change the brightness and change the color temperature in case the bright colors are too hard on your eyes.

I want to give you all a few quick tips on getting the best experience with the gear virtual realty. If you notice that you start seeing double of everything on the screen try adjusting the headset up or down on your face once you've optimized the headsets position go ahead and adjust the focus wheel to fine-tune the focus second. 

If the lenses fogged up when you put the headset on that just means that the lenses are much colder than your face.
