Fossil gen6; As time becomes more accessible on mobile phones and other mobile devices in recent years, the function of the watch has continued to be challenged. Watches are now more like fashion accessories than timepieces.
This shift in the industry resulted in the creation of the Fossil GEN6 - a beautiful smartwatch powered by a new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and boasting a pretty impressive design, which I will discuss in today's.
This is the successor to the previous Fossil GEN5, which was one of the top Android watch picks for the past two years.
The fossil gen6 smartwatch has the following features
We will address the following issues with the Fossil GEN6: real-life accuracy of improved heart rate monitoring, Sp02 accuracy, and steps accuracy, so stick with us as we focus on these issues.
The GEN6 is available in two sizes from Fossil: 44 millimeters with 22 millimeter straps and 42 millimeters with 18 millimeter straps, each with its own set of finishes.
The Fossil GEN5 smart watch comes in a nice box alongside the GEN6, a multilingual instruction manual, and a magnetic charging cable. Let's start with a quick look at the design.
We have a 1.28 inch amoled display with 416 by 416 pixels on the front, which is brighter and displays more colors than the previous GEN5 and automatically dims in dim environments.
It's easy to read, has an always-on display option, and I think the case itself is fantastic! The GEN6 we're testing today is the women's model, with 90 cubic zirconia pieces surrounding the display and an 18 millimeter silicon strap.
The Fossil GEN5 smartwatch is absolutely stunning! In designing the GEN6, Fossil combined timeless and modern watch styles.
The microphone is here, and the speaker is on the left side; all of this enables use with phone calls and Google Voice Assistant: "What is the weather like today?" - "How much is a bitcoin worth?
Family pop television. The speaker is also useful when using Google Assistant because, as long as the watch is connected to your phone via Bluetooth, it can calculate spoken or typed queries and respond with spoken answers.
Is the Fossil fossil gen6 smartwatch waterproof?
We will test and confirm the waterproofness of GEN6 with a simple submerged test because it is water resistant to only three atmospheres.
Normally, 3ATM means it can withstand some light splashing, sweat, or rain and should not be submerged in water, but Fossil claims that the watch is swim proof and can withstand a test that includes 10000 strokes in shallow water.
Fossil gen6 smart watch is fully waterproof, so swimming, washing your hands, or showering should not be a problem. We do have fantastic heart rate tracking here, in our test we compared the heart rate readings from GEN6 with the simultaneous readings from finger-clamped medical pulse oximeter, all the metrics are spot on.

I wouldn't recommend swimming in salty water as obviously conductive water may affect or even damage the metal parts of your watch. However, keep in mind that this is not a medical device, and the readings should only be used as a guide.
Here's a visual comparison. I'm using minitab as my statistical tool here. The following test is the spo2 or blood saturation tracking, which is again compared to the NHS approved pulse oximeter.
Again, the precision of the Fossil is quite good: the results are comparable to that of specialized medical equipment. To clarify, the fossil gen6 has a heart rate monitor and a spo2 monitor but no ECG.
Fossil gen6 smartwatch with the help of a Google Fit companion app Google Fit is a simple tool for tracking activities, but it supports a wide range of exercises in addition to the usual suspects like indoor or outdoor running, indoor or outdoor biking, yoga, and weightlifting. It includes a diverse range of secondary activities such as football, fencing, skating, tennis, soccer, and many others.
So, with that said, let's take a look at the pedometer's accuracy tracking. My wife has been testing the fossil gen6 smartwatch step counts with a manual tally counter. She has taken it on several walks and has completed exactly 1000 steps, manually clicking the tally counter for each step.
With a slight undercount, our GEN6 count is quite good. The fossil gen6 watch captured 976 steps out of 1000 manually counted steps, giving us 97.6 percent accuracy.
Not too shabby It also accurately recorded elevation changes and GPS location. We couldn't really scientifically test the sleep tracking accuracy, but my wife had been wearing her GEN6 to bed for over a week.

The fossil gen6 smartwatch struggled a bit with sleep tracking, recording deep sleep periods but struggling with fall asleep and wake up time.
That's fine with me, but if accurate sleep tracking is important to you, you might want to look into a different wearable. In terms of GEN6's useful features, we have NFC on board, and the bottom pusher is set to open Google Pay, which works fantastically well for cashless purchases.
On the app front, the Fossil GEN6's app drawer is almost entirely populated by Google's own content, including essentials like agenda, alarm, calculator, contacts, find my phone, stopwatch, reminders, translate, and more.
Spotify, Amazon Alexa, Fossil, Nike Run Club, and Noonlight are examples of third-party apps. The watch has one gigabyte of RAM and eight gigabytes of storage, which is more than enough for apps and music.
The apps never stuttered or crashed while I was using them, and the user interface was always fluid and fast; I'm very impressed!

Fossil gen6 battery life
Battery life is only average for a device in this category and is possibly the weakest link here. Fossil reduced the battery size from 310mAh in GEN5 to 300mAh in GEN6.
The improved snapdragon processor, which is more power efficient, helps to compensate for that loss. The good news is that the Fossil GEN6 recharges quickly; with the included charger, the watch can reach an 80 percent charge in about 30 minutes.
That's a lot faster than the GEN5. fossil gen6 smartwatch does not take any risks in terms of design or functionality; it is simple enough that it should work for the majority of people, and there are just enough design options to allow for some personalization.
