3 Reasons To Choose A Quartz Watch

A Quartz Watch; I love mechanical watches the movementslook great I think there's something undeniably special about wearing them nevertheless I also think quartz watches are great and I really thing they've got a place.

In this article I'm going to go through five reasons why you might consider choosing a quartz watch then next time we'll go through why you should choose a mechanical watch.

Why do you like quartz watches?

  1. quartz watches are essentially battery-powered watches that utilize a quartz crystal within an electronic circuit to enable the watch to function.
  2. mechanical watches relying physical mechanisms including Springs wheels and gears to tell the time.
  3. quartz watches generally cheaper to purchase reason being is that mechanical watches require a costlier manufacturing process compared to their quartz counterparts.

There isn't much that goes into a quartz movement outside of a battery and a circuit they can be pumped out to factories on mass for a really low price.

This is the reason that all of the cheap watches the ECM places like convenience stores a quartz ones can be made dirt cheap if necessary. As a result, that may change over time. They are not only less expensive to buy, but they are also less expensive to maintain.

Servicing mechanical watches adds up over time, and the cost can spiral with quartz watches. You can simply replace the battery every few years, or if it's a cheap Casio, you can even afford to replace the entire unit.

A significant advantage of quartz is its accuracy. Even the most basic quartz movements are incredibly accurate and only lose a few seconds over the course of a year, as opposed to mechanical watches, which can easily lose that in a day.

This makes them excellent timekeepers, and more accuracy is always preferable, but you also have the pure practicality of quartz to consider. These watches have a long power reserve, so once you've set the watch to the correct date and time, you rarely have to touch it again.

You can leave this in a drawer and pick it up months later and it will still be instantly usable. This is a great feature if you have multiple wristwatches that you want to chop and change between.

With mechanical watches, you do have that lengthy setup process, and you may have to repeatedly set the time if you aren't wearing them every day or two, which can be a pain for some, and it certainly is for me at times.

It's one of the reasons I have so many quartz watches; I enjoy being able to switch between them. There's also a factor that I've not really heard many people talking about online and that's size this is something I think can make quite a big difference really due to the decreased movement size caused watches can be much slimmer than automatics.

If you have a skinnier wrist the smaller size may fit proportionally better on your wris. quartz movements are often more durable than mechanical watches due to the lack of complexity they can take impact without much hassle.
