Change is the first thing you want to do. Because this is an old screen, the light of the images on the screen consumes more battery power. To change the watch face, simply long press the screen and select something darker.

Scrolling down in the display settings will bring you to another setting you'll want to change: your screen time out.

If you prefer to receive notifications via vibration rather than sound, try using sounds instead because it will consume less battery life. If you scroll down a little further, you'll find some other settings you can change to save battery. You can toggle between long and short vibrations by tapping the vibration text. 

You can also scroll down a little further to switch from a strong vibration to a light vibration, and if the vibration isn't noticeable enough for you and it's set to light and short, try changing just one of these settings at a time rather than turning them both on and wasting battery life.

But if even after that you still don't use Bixby, you can turn off the voice wake up feature to save some more juice. Just open up the Bixby application, scroll all the way to the bottom. Tap Settings, Tap Voice, wake up and make sure it's turned off.

The default keyboard option on the Galaxy Watch four is a pretty slow to type on because it's this T9 style typing, and it takes quite a long time to send any messages, and the more time it takes to send the message, the more battery life you're using. 

So if you want to send messages much faster and save battery life while you're at it, then you're going to want to download an application called Gboard. So go to your applications and open up the Google Play Store. Tap the search icon, tap the keyboard and search for Gboard.

At the top, you should see Debord, the Google keyboard; tap it and then install it. Navigate to Settings General Input Keyboard List and select default. 

Change the default keyboard to Gboard. If I return to a message, I'll see a full Curti keyboard with swipe support, which is much faster for sending messages. 

If you go to the quick toggles and swipe over, you should see a Wi-Fi option. When you're out of Bluetooth range, you can use this to download music or connect to your phone.

When you are not downloading music or will not be out of Bluetooth range of your phone. You can simply turn off this feature to save some battery life, and the same is true for the GPS.

If you're constantly using your phone's GPS, simply turn it off on your watch to save even more battery life, and if you don't use mobile payments like Samsung Pay or Google Pay, you can disable NFC by default.

When you start navigating somewhere with Google Maps on your phone, it will automatically bring up the navigation on your watch. That's great if you're going to walk or bike somewhere, but not so much

Scroll to the bottom and select Settings. Tap Auto Launch and turn it off while driving. You can also disable it for biking if you don't ride your bike anywhere. 

I was able to get just over 50 hours of battery life on my 46 millimeter Galaxy Watch four classic after playing all of the changes up to this point in the article. That was with only two nights of sleep tracking, little else, and no exercise tracking. If I had included exercise tracking, I would have lost an additional 1% battery for every ten minutes of a basic workout, or about 2% every ten minutes.

If the exercise was running outside using the watch's built-in GPS while also leaving my phone at home and connecting Bluetooth earbuds to the watch so I could listen to music while running, So that's the worst-case scenario for workout battery usage.

So if I did a simple 30 minute workout every day, my battery life would have been slightly less than two days, and if I was also doing other things like using the watch for navigation or sending a ton of messages with the watch, my battery life would have been significantly reduced.

The way I got over four and a half days of battery life was to simply put the watch on the charger. 

When I was getting ready for the day or going to bed, the time it took me to shower, change, and brush my teeth was more than enough to keep the watch running for four and a half days. To be more specific, it takes about 30 minutes per day to charge, and it has no effect on my daily routine.

Keep in mind that this is battery life with the always-on display turned off. If I turned off the always-on display, I could increase my battery life to about 62 hours without ever having to charge the watch.

If I charge for 30 minutes every day with the always-on display turned off, I'll get about ten days of battery life. 

Now, let's look at some extra things you can do to extend your battery life even further. If you go to settings, then scroll down to find advanced features, then scroll down to the bottom.

You'll notice a section called gestures, which contains three different gestures for answering calls, dismissing alerts and calls, and quickly launching an application. 

These are some really cool features that I'd like to keep. However, if these are features that you rarely use, you can disable them.

If you're curious, the answer calls gesture allows you to dismiss alerts and calls by simply raising and lowering your wrist a couple of times. You only need to rotate your wrist a couple of times, and if you want to quickly launch an application, you only need to turn your wrist down twice quickly within five seconds of the screen, as shown by the circles.

Let me go ahead and turn off my screen. Reconnect it. Turning our wrist down twice will take us directly to our workouts. As you can see, these are pretty cool gestures that I like to keep going. However, if you don't think you'll use it, you can turn it off to save a little more battery life.

If you want your Watch four to charge faster, you can disable the charging information displayed on the screen. To charge your watch, turn on your screen. Navigate to the Settings menu. Scroll down to display, then to the bottom and turn off the show charging info toggle.

When I turn the screen off, it will not display any information while charging, allowing it to charge faster, and if I ever want to check the charge status, I can simply turn the screen on, pull down the quick toggles, and see the charge percentage right at the top.

If you're in a pinch and need to save some power quickly, you can always turn on power saving mode by going to your quick toggles and tapping the power saving mode toggle, and if you really need to save some battery.

you can go to your settings, scroll down to battery, and press the power saving mode toggle then scroll to the bottom until you see an option called Watch only if I enable this. It's going to turn my watch into literally just a watch.
