Apple Watch Ultra vs Garmin Fenix

Apple Watch Ultra vs Garmin Fenix; Apple unveiled their very first tough multisport smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra, and boy is it massive. There are some really intriguing features that come not only with the Ultra, but also with Series 8.

By the way, Apple fooled a lot of these leakers who said the name would be Apple Watch 8 Pro. Not only is it not a Pro, but it is also not an Apple Watch 8; it is now a completely separate line.

So I expect the next [generation] to be known as the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Anyway, the watch now has a new action button that makes perfect sense.

It's extremely useful when wearing gloves or diving, and I wish it had appeared in Series 8. It also has a sapphire crystal with flat edges, which increases the watch's durability.

They've also improved the GPS tracking feature, which is especially useful for more precise urban GPS tracking, and it comes with cellular by default, so the Ultra doesn't have a non-cellular model.

There is now a siren feature. That is brilliant! That has the potential to save lives! But I was wondering who could hear a siren emanating from a smartwatch.

So I thought, oh, they've added a second speaker, that makes sense. However, the siren appears to use only one of the speakers; the smaller one! Another thing you may have noticed is that the right side of the watch now has this bulky protrusion.

That piece alone, in my opinion, not only adds another layer of protection to the watch, but also prevents accidental activation of the rotating physical control on the side of the watch.

Apple Watch Ultra vs Garmin Fenix in terms of aesthetics

It's not particularly appealing aesthetically, but it's adequate as a long-lasting sport watch. But, unless you're unaware that there are other multisport smartwatch manufacturers in the market.

I believe it's almost obvious that both Apple with their Ultra model and Samsung with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro are attempting to take market share away from a brand like Garmin.

Of course, there are other brands, but Garmin has the largest market share for sport/smart watches. So there are two issues here: The first question is whether Garmin is losing market share to Apple and Samsung, and I'm asking specifically as a Garmin user.

The other question is whether you should get a Watch Ultra or a Garmin watch. Obviously, there are no simple answers to these questions. But I'm sure you've heard of the Apple ecosystem at some point.

Garmin, on the other hand, has their own ecosystem. Yes, it is not as extensive as Apple's. But I believe there are a few factors at work here that will keep Apple and Samsung from becoming the next Garmin.

The first is that both the Apple Watch Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro are kind of limited to the ecosystems that both companies have built over time. However, with a Garmin watch, you can use either an iPhone or an Android phone.

Although there are still some limitations when using an iPhone, everything works just fine with either one of them. Another difference is that Apple only has a Watch Ultra, whereas Samsung has the Galaxy 5 Pro. That's all! And they're attempting to appeal to various types of "pro" people through software.

Did you know that Garmin has a smartwatch designed specifically for professional drivers?
That's correct! Now, I have no affiliation with Garmin at the moment, but the range of "professional" smartwatches that Garmin has is insane. There is a smartwatch designed specifically for you if you are a diver, golfer, or pilot.

However, the hardware itself is not always the most important factor. And, as previously stated, Apple is attempting to sell their watch through software and user experience, and it's important to note that Apple is always better at user experience.

No matter what Garmin or other brand smartwatch you buy, the seamless, super fluid, and smooth experience you get on an Apple Watch, whether Ultra or regular, is simply non-existent. Of course, there is a cost for such an experience, and it usually manifests itself.

Apple Watch Ultra vs Garmin Fenix in terms of battery life

When comparing the battery life of, say, the Garmin Epix 2 to that of the Apple Watch Ultra. You'd think that with a watch that big, like the Apple Watch Ultra, you'd get at least 10 days of battery life, but no more than a few days.

If you use the GPS even moderately, nothing too serious, I'd be surprised if it lasted more than two days. We'll have to wait and see, and while battery life may not appear to be a big deal to many potential buyers, it is.

In fact, I've heard from many of you that you're tired of constantly charging your Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch, and even tired of thinking about it and having to plan for it, and this is a real thing. It's a type of anxiety that most EV owners experience, especially a few years ago.

In fact, when the Galaxy Watch 5 was released, I reviewed it, and I believe I mentioned that I now have charge anxiety, so despite being a great watch with so many features, it's not on my wrist.

Garmin Fenix vs. Apple Watch Ultra In terms of the sensors' accuracy

In terms of sensor accuracy, both Apple Watch and most Garmin watches have really good sensors like the heart rate sensor, etc.

Returning to the ecosystem, when it comes to software, you have much more options in terms of having interesting apps on your watch but unfortunately third-party apps for Garmin watches are not as widely available but in terms of hardware, I believe staying with Garmin's ecosystem as a pro pays off.

For example, you can wear a chest strap and a Garmin watch at the same time, and in the watch's settings, enable a feature called Physio TrueUp to sync all of your physiological data from the two devices.

Why is the Apple Watch Ultra superior to the Garmin Fenix?

  1. Can be used to take phone calls.
  2. Blood oxygenation levels are monitored.
  3. A heart rate monitor is included.
  4. NFC is available.
  5. There is a touch screen.
  6. It includes a temperature sensor.
  7. It monitors your sleep.
  8. The watch band can be changed.

Anyway, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed this review about Apple Watch Ultra vs Garmin Fenix
