Should You Upgrade Your Apple Watch Series 5 To A Series 8?

Upgrade apple watch; Today we'll look at whether it's worthwhile to upgrade from an Apple Watch Series 5 to an Apple Watch Series 8

So the Apple Watch Series 5 was announced back in 2019 and it had some features that set it apart from the Apple Watch Series 4 like the original display and the new compass integration but it wasn't really worth it to upgrade to the series from the series four and that happens every year.

So only a couple new features are added to each Apple Watch model, and if you have the previous one, there's no reason to buy it, but if you have an older one, they start to add up and may make it worthwhile to upgrade.

So, in this case, we'll look at the features that were added to each model after Series 5, and then we'll decide whether it's worth upgrading or not.

The new features added to the Apple Watch Series 5

With the Series 6, two new features were added: a 50 faster processor, which is the same as the one found in the Series 7.

Now in series 8 is a blood oxygen sensor, which allows you to measure the oxygen in your blood, and if I'm not mistaken, and I'm not a medical expert or anything, I believe it helps you see how fit you are.

The new features added to the Apple Watch Series 7

To be fair, the Apple Watch Series 7 did include a few new features. For starters, it was the first redesign since the Apple Watch Series 4 in 2014.

It now has smaller vessels and a millimeter larger case; it also supports fast charging, but only with the included cable; and it has a brighter always-on display.

lastly it added certification for ip6x dust resistance and wr50 water resistance meaning that it's very waterproof and very dust proof.

Apple Watch Series 8 Features

Series 8 has three new features including a temperature sensor and crash detections. Temperature sensor measures your temperature but if you're someone who has their period it will help you predict in which phase of your period you are next.

Crash detections is a way of detecting when a car has crashed. So it has high g-force accelerometers and can detect a car crash, which hopefully no one will ever need, but it's good to know it's there.

Finally, and this feature is exclusive to the cellular models, it now supports cellular roaming, which is actually quite useful because if you're traveling, you can also have your data plan on your Apple Watch.

Apple watch ultra

Apple also announced the Apple Watch Ultra, which is insane and has so many new features that it's probably the biggest improvement for the Apple Watch ever, even including the original Apple Watch, because we kind of knew what we were expecting, but the Apple Watch Will Trace was insane in every way.

So, unlike the Apple Watch Series 4 which I recommend upgrading from, I don't think the Series 5 is a good enough upgrade to warrant upgrading unless you really, really, really want one of these features.

So, if you want a brighter always-on display or even more dust and water resistance, you might consider getting it, but if you don't need any of those features, you shouldn't.

I would strongly advise you to wait for the Apple Watch Series 9 because it will add two or three new features that will make it more worthwhile to upgrade.

Another reason you should consider upgrading is the battery life. If your Apple Watch already has an old battery that doesn't have a lot of battery health and barely gets you through the day, you should consider upgrading.

Then you should think about upgrading to a new one, and while you're at it, you might as well get the series 8.

However, if the battery comfortably lasts until the end of the day and you're fine charging it every day, I wouldn't recommend upgrading this year. Instead, wait until the next year to see what the new features are.

This is similar to what happened to me last year, when I was considering upgrading my series 4 to the series 7, but then I realized okay, I don't really use the watch that much, and the battery life gets me to the end of the day.

So I'll wait another year. A year has passed, and the battery life is no longer great; sometimes I barely make it to the end of the day. This year, I'm upgrading it.

So, if you're in a similar situation to the one I described, I recommend deferring your decision for a year. If you have any questions about upgrade Your Apple Watch Series 5 please leave them in the comments and I will do my best to respond.
